Olives were cultivated in the Mediterranean over 8,000 years ago, and they have played an important role in Mediterranean cuisine ever since. In addition to their delicate flavour, black olives are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation in the body and lower the risk of heart disease.
